Naadiya Shaik Omar is an Arts Therapist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). She holds a Master’s degree in Drama Therapy as well as a BA majoring in psychology, both from Wits University. Drama Therapy is the application of psychology using play, drama, visual imagery, writing, speech and music for psychological growth, healing, development and change.
Having worked in clinical, community and psycho-educational settings, Naadiya has undergone several training programmes in the fields of parenting, infant mental health, early childhood development, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
As a CBT and DBT practitioner, Naadiya assists clients in managing overwhelming emotions and replacing harmful thought patterns and behaviour with life-enhancing ones. Naadiya also runs an effective parenting programme equipping parents with the skills to understand their child’s behaviour.
Naadiya is a registered member of the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF) and as such therapy fees can be reimbursed from medical aid.
